Alexandrite is one of three June birthstones, and it is most precious one generally.
Alexandrite is a member of the chrysoberyl family of minerals.
Being very unique stone, alexandrite has the ability to change color, since it absorbs certain wavelengths of light very strongly which causes it to appear different colors, depending on if it is worn in sunlight or indoor light.
Actually it may look about three main colors, it can look green resembling fine emerald, or mixed shades of gray/red/green, or red as ruby, and anything in between.
Any alexandrite should change colors from khaki or yellowish green or green in daylight moving to brownish, purple, reddish-purple or red under incandescent light, regardless of the quality.
Mixed light should produce either a grayer color or flashes of the green, purple, and sometimes red or yellow.
It is one of the most desirable and valuable stones on Earth.
We can make any of the rings in our collection to fit any stone for center stone.
